Background
Dr Cobben trained as clinical geneticist in Groningen, The Netherlands. Worked there as a consultant for several years. Subsequentrly, became clinical lead of the department of clinical genetics VUMC, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From 2003 to 2016, head of subdepartment of paediatric genetics, department of paediatrics, Emma Children's Hospital, AMC Amsterdam.
From 2016 to 2018 Dr Cobben was consultant in clinical genetics at St George's Hospital; from 2018 to 2025 he was consultant in genetics and clinical lead at Northwest Thames Regional Genetics NHS.
Since January 2026 Dr Cobben has been a consultant in clinical genetics at the Fetal Medicine Units of Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
