Why I chose the Lindo Wing for my baby’s birth
A personal experience by Trivali
From morning sickness to moments of joy, Trivali shares her honest and heartfelt journey through pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey at the Lindo Wing.
“After visiting several hospitals across London and speaking with midwives and staff, choosing the Lindo Wing for my baby’s birth felt like the most natural decision. From the very first antenatal visit, the personalised care, attention to detail and warmth from the team stood out. I felt supported, listened to, and reassured. This meant a lot to me as a first-time mum.
One of the biggest factors in my decision was knowing I’d have access to some of the best obstetricians and neonatal specialists in the country. Birth can be unpredictable, and I wanted to feel confident that if anything didn’t go to plan, I’d be in the safest possible hands. Being close to an NHS hospital added another layer of reassurance.
My pregnancy was mostly smooth, but it came with its fair share of challenges. I had terrible morning sickness in the first trimester, which made daily life difficult. The second trimester was a welcome relief because I had more energy and could finally enjoy being pregnant. However, by the third trimester, I was dealing with sciatica pain, sleep issues and growing anxiety about the birth itself.
Throughout it all, the Lindo Wing team made me feel like more than just a patient. I had access to my consultant and a real sense of continuity throughout my care. During routine scans and check-ups, the staff took time to talk, listen, and check in on my mental wellbeing. They genuinely cared about my physical health and emotional wellbeing.
After the birth, the midwives were available at all hours. Whether I needed help with breastfeeding, pain relief or just someone to talk to. The meals were surprisingly something I looked forward to, which says a lot in a hospital setting! And having my husband stay with me in our private room made those first few days and nights with our baby even more special.
If I could offer one piece of advice to someone navigating pregnancy, it would be to let go of perfection. There is no perfect pregnancy and no perfect birth. Embrace flexibility – plans are helpful, but adaptability is your true superpower.
I’d also like to give a heartfelt thank you to my consultant, Mr Miskry, who made me feel calm, confident, and truly cared for. His knowledge and kindness were invaluable. Every midwife I encountered was exceptional, but I want to especially thank Sandra, who was incredibly patient and reassuring, especially when I arrived late one evening in a panic, unable to feel my baby’s movements.
We also opted for the postnatal package and were lucky to have Michelle as our community midwife. Her calm, compassionate, and professional approach made a world of difference during those crucial postpartum weeks. Thanks to Michelle, I felt strong, supported and confident as a new mum.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and feel incredibly grateful to have had the Lindo Wing team by my side.”
